First Edition of The Oracle of Heaven and Hell.

The Oracle of Heaven and Hell is a deck of oracle cards created by Travis McHenry. The meanings on each card are derived from the abilities of the Goetic demons and the Kabbalistic angels.

The deck was first released in conjunction with a grimoire of ritual magic called The Grimoire of Heaven and Hell.

Content

Each card in the deck contains an image of a Goetic demon and a Kabbalistic angel. The astrological meanings of the angels and demons provide the meanings for each card in the upright or reversed position. Because there are only 72 angels and demons in the Kabbalistic system of the Shem HaMephorash, there are only 72 cards in this deck.

In addition to drawings of the angels and demons, the cards also contain their summoning sigils, allowing the deck to be used in ritual or devotional work.

The guidebook recommends two reading spreads specific to this deck:

  • The Stairway to Heaven - utilizing the angel side of the deck and revealing the reader's higher vision or future end state.
  • The Circles of Hell - utilizing the demon side of the deck and showing where the reader should set their internal focus or the core of what is troubling them.

Publication history

The first limited edition of the deck was published by Bloodstone Studios in 2019. This version had gold edges and an embossed Seal of Solomon on the tuck box. Several successive printings of the deck by Bloodstone Studios had no revisions until the 2nd Edition was updated with matte black borders in 2023. This version also features the name of the author on the tuck box for the first time.

In 2024, a new mass market edition of the deck will be released by Rockpool Publishing through Simon & Schuster. While the original deck included a small instruction booklet, the new edition contains a more robust guidebook with information from The Grimoire of Heaven and Hell.
