Sorath is the planetary spirit of the Sun corresponding to the constellation Leo. Nachiel is his planetary intelligence.

His enemy is Zazel.

Characteristics

Sorath governs over power, magistracy, and success.

His metal is gold.

His minerals include ruby, hyacinth and carbuncle.

In Numerology, his name equals 666 using Gematria.

His magic square is made of six parts, containing 36 numbers with a six in every side. If the square is engraved on a golden plate, it is especially powerful.

Textual History

Sorath is listed in the second of Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy (1533) as a spirit of Leo under the planetary intelligence Nachiel. MS Harley 6482, published more recently as A Treatise of Angel Magic, from an older document by Thomas Rudd (1583-1656) around 1699 also features the spirit. This was in turn copied by John Heydon in his book Theomagia (1663).
