Qedty
Tjemes en Khentet is the 14th decan of the main decanal stars of Egyptian astrology. The decan has its heliacal rise during the week of I Peret 11-20 in the Egyptian calendar. Its name is translated as "band of reeds."
Name
The meaning behind the name Qedty is not precisely known, but its hieroglyphic spelling appears to closely match the glyph for “band of reeds.” Such a name begins to make sense when you consider that Nile barques were made from reeds lashed together, which explains why this is the first decan in the Boat group.
Divination meaning
The Egyptian Star Oracle connects this decan with the concept of sowing seeds. If this card is found in the same reading as the Akhuy decan (#24), then you can be assured that your hard work will pay off and your plans are going to be successful.
Characteristics
In ritual work, Qedty is useful for getting you unstuck from your present situation and helping you move forward in life. The reeds of the boat are part of a conversation the deceased has with the ferryman in Coffin Text spell 395: “The boat is put together for me that I may pass through darkness, but not get lost in it. The boat is taken to pieces, there are no reeds or bands ... Bring me her mast-crutch, for the reeds of this boat are the bands which are under the bright hair of Set.”
The Dendera D zodiac ceiling depicts this decan as a standing lion-headed god holding two nw-jars. The same ceiling gives its mineral as flint.
