Bethor
Bethor is an olympic spirit who rules over the planet Jupiter and 42 provinces.
According to the Arbatel of Magick (1575), Bethor ruled over the earth from 60 BC - 430 AD.
Textual history
Bethor is described as an olympic spirit in several grimoires collectively called the Grimoire of Armadel.
The 1750 manuscript Regis Salomonis calls this spirit by the name "NYMPHITROS" and provides an alternate seal for it and the other olympic spirits.
Primary texts which describe Bethor and the spirit's attributes include:
- Arbatel of Magick (1575)
- Regis Salomonis Septem Sigilla Planetarum (1750)
- Magia Naturalis et Innaturalis (1849)
Abilities
In addition to being ruler over Jupiter, Bethor governs health and longevity.
He allows you to comprehend who and what the demons or fallen angels really are, the differences of their names, their powers, and what actions they can perform. When Bethor is invoked, he will appear quickly at any time and any hour.
Seal
The sigil of Bethor should be drawn in red ink.
The characters of his seal teach how demons may be distinguished from angels. It also provides the true names of the demons, showing whether the virtue of God is still within them.
His seal also teaches how angels can be attracted to the magician and used as familiars simply by having knowledge of their true names. Additionally, it explains more thoroughly how the olympic spirits operate and how they are different from other angelic spirits.
