Gamaliel
Gamaliel ("Obscene Ones") is the ninth qlippoth on the Kabbalistic Tree of Death. It is the shadow opposite sphere of Yesod, its opposing sefirot on the Tree of Life. It is located directly above Lilith (qlippoth).
Etymology
The name Gamaliel (גמליאל) does not have an exact translation in Hebrew, but its root appears to be גמלי (romanized as gimli), which means "a camel." The sphere is usually rendered as "Obscene Ones."
Alternate spellings include Gomaliel.
Description
Gamaliel is the opposite of Yesod, which represents foundations; but this qlippoth represents impure sexual desires which are never satisfied. It is embodied by misshapen and polluted images that produce vile results.
On the Tree of Death, Gamaliel is the second sphere in the Realm of Mud and Clay. This region, located at the very bottom of the Tree of Death, is described in the Zohar as a place where prayers of the unrighteous settle into the muck instead of rising to heaven.
Occult correspondences
In astrology, Gamaliel corresponds to the Moon.
Its demon ruler is Lilith (not to be confused with the 10th qlippoth, also named Lilith).
