Valac is the 62nd Goetic demon summoned by King Solomon. The demon is also called Ualac, Falak, Valu, Folach, Coolor, or Doolas, depending on the source.

This spirit is described in many grimoires, such as the Lesser Key of Solomon (in some versions as Ualac or Falak and in Thomas Rudd's variant as Valu), Johann Weyer's Pseudomonarchia Daemonum (as Volac),the Liber Officiorum Spirituum (as Coolor or Doolas), and in the Munich Manual of Demonic Magic (as Folach).

Valac is opposed by the Kabbalistic angel Iahhel.

General appearance

Valac appears as an boy with angel wings riding a two-headed dragon.

Abilities

His office is to tell the location of hidden treasures, and to reveal where snakes may be found. He will bring treasures to the magician without being forced to do so. He governs 38 Legions of spirits. Astrologically, this spirit signifies relationship strife.

Valac is a servant demon to those born January 19 - 23.

In popular culture

Valac is a major antagonist in The Conjuring series of horror films. The Conjuring 2, The Nun, and The Nun II have Valak as the main antagonist, taking on the form of a demonic nun and The Crooked Man from the rhyme "There Was a Crooked Man." However, it has not been confirmed if Valak is the Crooked Man. The Nun revealed that the demon took the form of a nun to hide amongst the sisters in a convent. In The Nun and The Nun II, its main weakness is the Blood of Christ. Its ability to block the psychic Lorraine's visions makes it the most dangerous entity in The Conjuring Universe.
