The Grimoire of Sigil Magic first edition

The Grimoire of Sigil Magic is a modern grimoire of ritual magic which focuses on techniques involving sigil and talismanic magic. The book was a collaborative effort written by Travis McHenry, Damien Echols, and Lorri Davis.

It was first published in 2024 in conjunction with the Echols Sigil Oracle, a deck of oracle cards utilizing sigils.

Content

The book is 130 pages and contains 42 sigils, all of which were hand-drawn by occultist Damien Echols and his wife, Lorri Davis. Travis McHenry was responsible for organizing the sigils and then explaining various techniques for working with the sigils and other magical symbols. In addition to sigil magic techniques, there is also an extensive exploration of the history of sigil magic and some theories about why it is so effective at producing desired outcomes. Finally, the book includes a number of rituals and invocations which can be used with the sigils to increase the magician's focus.

Some of the sigils are designed to harness a specific thought, idea, or energy, while others are intended to connect you with specific angels, like the Archangels of the Zodiac. The book leans heavily on Kabbalistic principles and some sigils represent a journey through the Tree of Life.

Sections

The book is divided into three main sections:

  • History of Sigil Magic
  • Sigil Magic Rituals
  • The 42 Sigils
    • Cosmic Connections
    • Spiritual Portals
    • The Archangels

Publication

The book was initially published by Bloodstone Studios in late 2024 as a companion to the Echols Sigil Oracle, a deck of oracle cards which uses the same sigils as are found in the book. The first edition is a hardcover book bound in red linen with a matte black metallic sigil embossed on the cover and the title embossed on the spine. The initial print run of 700 copies sold out almost immediately. Each copy was numbered.

A special handbound edition was also created, limited to 10 copies. These were bound in red leather with a silver gateway sigil embossed on the front cover. Each copy was signed by all three authors and eight were sold as part of the book's Kickstarter campaign in July 2024, while two copies were kept by the authors themselves.

In August 2025, a second printing of the first edition was completed and it was offered for sale again.
