Barbatos (Hebrew: ברבטוש) is a Goetic demon. It is the eighth spirit of the 72 demons summoned by King Solomon according to the Lesser Key of Solomon. In the hierarchy of Hell, Barbatos is a Great Duke.

He is ruled over by the Kabbalistic angel Cahethel.

General description

Barbatos appears when the sun is in Sagittarius, with four noble kings and their companies of great troops.

Abilities

Barbatos gives understanding of the songs of birds, and of the voices of other creatures, such as the barking of dogs. He breaks open the hidden treasures that have been laid by the enchantments of magicians. A fallen angel, he was of the Order of Virtues, of which some part he still retains. Barbatos knows all things past, and to come, and consoles friends and those that be in power. He rules over 30 Legions of Spirits. Barbatos is under Satanachia, the commander-in-chief of Satan's army.

Barbatos is a servant demon of those born April 24 - 28.
