The Goetic demon Beleth as depicted in the Occult Tarot and The Demon-Possessed Tarot

Beleth (Hebrew: בלאה) (also spelled Bilet, Bileth, Byleth, or Bilith) is a Goetic demon. It is the thirteenth spirit of the 72 demons summoned by King Solomon according to the Lesser Key of Solomon. In the hierarchy of Hell, Beleth is a King.

He is ruled over by the Kabbalistic angel Iezalel.

General description

Beleth rides on a pale horse with trumpets and other kinds of musical instruments playing before him. Astrologically, this spirit signifies wastrels and vagabonds.

He is very furious at his first appearance, that is, while the exorcist displays his courage; for to do this he must hold a Hazel Wand in his hand, striking it out towards the South and East Quarters, make a magic triangle outside the Circle, and then commands him into it by reciting the Spirit's Chain. And if he does not enter into the triangle at your threats, rehearse the Chain before him, and then he will yield and come into it, and do what he is commanded by the exorcist.

Yet, you must receive him courteously because he is a Great King, and do homage unto him, as the Kings and Princes do that attend upon him. And you must have always a Silver Ring on the middle finger of the left hand held against your face, as you do before Amaymon.

Abilities

According to Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, Noah's son Ham was the first in invoking him after the flood, and wrote a book on mathematics with his help. This Great King Beleth causes all the love that may be, both of men and of women, until the exorcist has had his desire fulfilled. He was of the Order of Powers, and he governs 85 Legions of Spirits.

Beleth is a servant demon of those born May 19 - 23.
