==Origin==
The story of [[King Solomon]] conjuring and capturing demons is an ancient tale dating back to the first century. The legend goes that Solomon summoned 72 demons using a specific invocation. He then questioned them and put them to his service according to their abilities and powers. Some variants of the legend say the demons were used as beasts of burden to help build Solomon's Temple.
When he was finished with the demons, rather than send them back to Hell or release them into the world, he trapped them in a brass vessel and sealed the vessel with his [[Secret Seal of Solomon|secret seal]] to prevent the demons from escaping. After trapping the demons in the brass vessel, Solomon threw it into a deep lake in Babylon. It remained there, sunken in the bottom of the lake, until some local treasure-seekers found the vessel and broke it open. This released the demons into the world where they can serve and torment mortals.
